Patsy Onatah
Drum Circle Facilitator
The Humble Drum
Sanford, Maine

My life has revolved around music since I was a young child – piano, clarinet, dance… but it was when a djembe was placed in my hands in 2007 that I felt I’d truly found my life’s passion.

I believe that the drum, the rhythms created and the community involved can be powerful tools used in our everyday lives. Joy, positive self-esteem, awareness, sharing, empowerment, discipline, healing – all are achievable through drumming/rhythm.

I am a Remo HealthRhythms trained facilitator, a member of the International Drum Circle Facilitators Guild (DCFG) a performer and a teacher. I coordinate the Southern Maine/New Hampshire branch of the Million Women Drummers Gathering and host the Sanford Community Drum Circle each month in Sanford, Maine.

In addition to the djembe, I am drawn to the dunduns, shekere’ and other forms of percussion. My greatest joy is introducing someone to drumming/rhythm for the first time.
